Also to say Cerneaf is a noob trap is very strange seeming all of the top players I talk to agree that Cerneaf is incredibly strong and are still trying to find ways to beat it without committing their whole team to counter 1 strategy. To battle cerneaf you need to build your team specifically to target it. 1 person losing a game doesnt mean its not meta. But Cerneaf teams are at the top of the meta. I am not saying Cerneaf is the best temtem right now, I think most would agree thats still Kinu. It was in 3 teams of the top 4 of the crystle cup and was all over that tourney, 1 player that runs cerneaf has won the 3 tournies with it in the last week. At this moment it is factually incorrect to say Cerneaf is not at the top of the meta. Just because 1 person loses 1 game does not mean cerneaf isnt at the top of the meta. lower stamina cost by a few points (maybe to like 18?) change the regeneration to a flat 15% heal, like a weaker revitalize (this would prevent pushing off all statuses) I would say the biggest offenders are the status clearing and the spdef boosting, though. Being able to clear all status, heal a bit, protect you from an attack, AND boost defensively should never be available all at once. It offers way too much utility in one click. The move is basically 4 decent moves in one. +2 spdef (very strong, synergy isn't difficult to do) protects you from one attack, with priority (very strong) Once it gets a couple boosts (which is not difficult to do for good players) it's literally not worth attacking anymore.

The fact that the best way to deal with Cerneaf is to just lower its attack and ignore it the whole game says a lot about how dumb its tankiness is. It doesn't help that Callosity makes it immune to defense-downs as well (though Settling spamming shy shield is also very effective). It's also worth noting that there's currently no way to reduce special defense, so as soon as something like Cerneaf is +2 spdef or higher it's stupidly difficult to take down with special attacks. Tweaking how bush works is a chill solution too.

So yeah, technically stall being readily available is the problem, but I think Cerneaf with Bush/the strength of bush itself is the last straw that breaks the camel's back here.Įdit to reflect Bush is now nerfed slightly. But Cerneaf exists alongside Vulffy, Saku, Kinu, Stonewallers, and Noxolotl (nvm rip nox) in ways that are mutually beneficial and pretty reliable to set up with. Of course, if it was just Cerneaf, it would be less of a problem.

It's not clever, it's not an outplay, it is a nature that either never dies but can't kill anything, something that will slowly slowly slowly die to poison, or it will take 30 turns to wall your team the moment it's user gets at least one kill. The moment Cerneaf hits the field, the tempo of the game basically slows to a crawl and everyone knows what is going to happen. We have fast debuffers, strong fires, and can double up poisons. And yet. But are any of those methods able to keep the game tempo "tolerable" as soon as Cerneaf hits the field? No. Thanks to bush, sweatband, and highly viable synergy partners, it can get started somewhat easily.Īre there fairly straightforward way to deal with it? yes. Right now Cerneaf is a force to be reckoned with.
